The water village of Giethoorn is located only a 15 minutes’ drive from the Hotel Huis ten Wolde. Giethoorn is a very idyllic village where you can find countless thatched farms build on small islands connected by more than 170 wooden bridges. The village is almost car free and in an environment full of lakes, canals and forests.

De Oude Aarde
De Oude Aarde is the oldest museums in Giethoorn dating back to 1696, an inspirational home to one of the most beautiful collections of minerals and fossils.

Gallery Steenwijk
The foundation of gallery Steenwijk aims to organize exhibitions within the field of visual arts. The exhibition high season run from September to May and entrance is always for free.
Stadsmuseum Steenwijk
The Steenwijk City Museum has a focus on five core collections of well-known Steenwijker manufacturers of the last century: Eskaf pottery, Wildebras dolls, Monsieur furniture, Bijkamp silver and the Steenwijker tobacco industry.
To truly enjoy the surrounding of Hotel Huis ten Wolde you should take the opportunity to explore the nature in the area on foot or by bike. We have several cycling and walking routes available. We rent out bikes to your guests.
National Park Weerribben and National Park Dwingelderveld and the Hunebeds at Havelte, are also well worth a visit.
